Of course there are up to date debian packages.
At least for debian Sid, etch, Ubuntu Dapper and without syncml also for sarge.
Look at: http://www.in.fh-merseburg.de/~jahn/
Thanks for pointing this out. This would have made my life easier too. I guess i was either too lazy or too blind to find that link. Anyways, thank you, and i will of course update the guide.
Quite informative
But to be honest I would have never gone so far to do all that. I am using a free online data backup service. Since i am not a technical person I prefer to stay away from manual settings.
I signed up with www.zyb.com, identified my 6630 and they sent me phone settings through a text (they do have manual settings). I installed those setting and followed the instructions. I basically synced my phone with their server. My complete phonebook and calendar was transferred in less than 5 minutes.
So i prefer using ready made solutions
I checked out www.zyb.com,
and i have to say it is a nice service for people who just want to care how to configure anything. But on the other hand, i wouldn’t feel comfortable to send my contacts and calendar data to someone i don’t know and don’t trust. But again, that’s just me.
However, thanks for the hint herbert.
Version is 0.19+svn20060911-1 (I think is the last one)
When I try to sync with a file-plugin I get this answer:
~$ msynctool –sync test Synchronizing group “test”
The previous synchronization was unclean. Slow-syncing
Member 1 of type file-sync just connected
received event dsession
received contact dsession
received note dsession
Member 2 of type syncml-obex-client just connected
All clients connected or error
Member 1 of type file-sync just sent all changes
After this last message the phone remains connected but nothing happens.
I have to kill msynctool.
I also tried to use the syncml.obex-client directly gettingn this:
~$ syncml-obex-client -b [BT MAC] 11 –identifier “PC Suite” –sync
text/x-vcard Contacts –sync text/x-vcalendar Calendar –wbxml
connection with device succeeded
Received an Alert for the DS Server at Calendar: Type: 201, Last , Next
20060917T164019Z
Received an Alert for the DS Server at Contacts: Type: 201, Last , Next
20060917T164019Z
Just received a new session with ID 18
Session 18 reported final. flushing
An also in this case I get no other messages and I have to kill
syncml-obex-client after a while.
Hi,
i’d really like to help you my friend, but in order to do that i need some more info. First of, what phone di you have, then your configuration files for the opensync plugins and finally did you turn on the logging facilities? If yes, what are the logs saying, if no look here: http://www.opensync.org/wiki/syncml-guide under Troubleshooting to find out how to enable logging. Finally if you’ve done everything the right way and still get errors you’d have to file a bug report on the opensync.org site.

I tried to do the same on a Debian Sid but with no results.
I installed libopensync and he syncml-obex client plugin from the
repository in:

deb-src http://www.in.fh-merseburg.de/~jahn/ sid main
